Making a Joyful NoiseMusic Ministry
Celebration Ringers is an intergenerational group of musicians who love to ring the church’s two-octave set of Malmark handbells. Any person age 10 and above is welcome to join. People interested in becoming part of this ensemble must have at least a rudimentary knowledge of how to read music – or be willing to learn. The music director provides free music lessons to committed individuals! The bell choir plays at worship services 2-3 times during the year (mid-September-early June). The rehearsal schedule is based on which dates the group will play at church, with 2-5 practices held prior to each of those dates. Rehearsals are most often on Sunday nights, although some Saturday morning practices have been necessary.
The Sunday Singers is an impromptu group of people who gather to sing a contemporary praise song at worship from time to time. There is no set membership – anyone who wants to sing is welcome to do so. The music director sends all those interested a link to a performance of the song for study, then all gather on the chosen Sunday morning before worship for a single rehearsal.
If you’re interested in learning more about our music programs, please email Carolyn Johnson, Director of Music (please use the church office address) or call (860) 635-4032 and leave a message with the church secretary.
